Well it seems Week 1 of Bear Tracks was a hit so here we are for Week 2. There’s lots to keep an eye on this with our Attack players around the country and the world.
Taos Jordan acts as captain and emerges as scoring leader with Team Jamaica
Attack blueliner Taos Jordan had quite the weekend in Chicago playing with the Jamaican Olympic Ice Hockey Federation’s Senior Men’s Team in round one the Challenger series featuring Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Lebanon. Jamaica. His 12 goals lead all tournament scorers and by all accounts his leadership was on full display as he captained Team Jamaica.
“I don’t know how much you’ve interacted with Taos in his years at Owen Sound, but he’s an amazing kid,” said Teddy Cheesebrough, GM and coach for Team Jamaica. “I’ll add that he captained Team Jamaica this past weekend in Chicago, and after we dropped our first game in disappointing fashion, he essentially took the group and said “C’mon guys, follow me” through his words and actions on the ice and led us to a 3-game winning streak.”

Taos collected hat tricks in the first 3 games (3 in game 1,3 in game 2,4 in game 3) and then had 2 goals in game 4. Congrats on an awesome performance Taos! Team Jamaica is next in action in New York June 6 to June 9 and then wraps up July 11 to 13 in Oshawa. Find out more about the series in the NHL’s Colour of Hockey series and in the Jamaica Observer here. You can follow the Jamaican Olympic Ice Hockey Federation here.

Colby scores first pro goal with Manitoba Moose
It was a big week for Captain Colby Barlow who got into the lineup with the Winnipeg Jets affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, in the AHL as they wrapped up their regular season in Texas. Colby scored his first pro goal with … you guessed it… a beauty one-timer from ‘his office’. He also picked up an assist in that game and an assist the next regular season game he played. The Moose faced Texas in a best of 3 playoff series this week that ultimately ended their season. Check out this video of Colby talking about his first pro goal and stay tuned to Bear Tracks to find out what’s next for him.

We’re lucky to have Ryan Girard, a relative of Attack defenceman Sam Ethier, sending us some photos and updates from the tournament. Thanks so much Ryan – although I’m not sure if you are making my FOMO better or worse. Apparently Ryan has already been interviewed on a Finnish TV station. Canadian fans are the best eh!
Here’s an interview with Sam Ethier
