It’s a familiar refrain from me by now, but when I walked into the Bayshore four season’s ago, I had no idea I was going to make some of the best friends of my life there. The very first person I met was Kim Burroughs (aka Ethan Burroughs mom) and to this day we stay in touch even though Ethan’s time in the OHL ended two years ago. In Ethan’s final year, Kim saw that some of the other OHL teams had special games or weekends to celebrate the player’s moms. She worked with the Attack to create the first ever mom’s weekend. In a long season of non-stop work for the boys, mom’s weekend has become a beacon of light for this team. Win or lose, for one special weekend, the moms are there for the boys, just as they have been since their minor hockey days. This weekend is also a chance for the moms to get to know each other better, to share stories of their journey to this point and to share ideas and advice about what comes next for their boys. I am lucky to have called some of these moms friends over the last four years and I am grateful to stay in touch with many of them after their boys have moved on. I am still waiting for the day that one of these boys hits the ice in the NHL and when that day comes I will know that I had the joy of capturing memories for their families along the way.
Cheers to this season’s moms who worked hard to pull this year’s celebration off. You are all rock stars.

I truly enjoyed when the Mom weekend happened again. What a way to give a personal touch to the boys on the team. It’s a part of what makes Owen Sound Attack one big family. ❤️
