Welcome to Beyond the Bench. My name is Allison Kennedy Davies and I am writer, photographer and content creator. I’ve had a career spanning several decades covering sporting events around the world. From Sauble Speedway to the X Games and Iceland, one thing remains the same wherever I go. I love telling stories with words and pictures. I’ve worked for newspapers, magazines, marketing agencies and in communication roles. Currently, my home base is Meaford, Ontario and I’m spending an increasing amount of time covering local sports -including our hometown Owen Sound Attack team in the Ontario Hockey League. I’ve been looking for a place to tell more in-depth stories that go beyond the confines of tiny phone screens and the ever-updating world of social media. For now, I will tell the stories I’ve been itching to tell here on Beyond the Bench. Behind every great sporting event, there’s a series of incredible stories and a series of incredible people. I believe the more you know an athlete, the more you care about what happens on the ice, on the race track and on the field. We thrive on human connection and Beyond the Bench will be home to the stories I feel need to be told.
